I have painted many honey bears over the years in simple, humble still lifes, but I recently decided it was finally time for him to step out of his quiet surroundings and go on some adventures. I felt like he finally needed a proper name for his adventures, so I went with Henry.
This painting officially kicks off a brand new series called 'Henry the Honey Bear' and features him catching some sun on the beach in Waikiki. He is sitting on the sand right next to a life-sized blue flip-flop and a little cocktail umbrella, with the ocean waves breaking in the background. I had a wonderful time working on this piece and capturing the bright beach light - can't wait to see what he's up to next!
